"antinomy" was written by Hiromu Akita as the ending song for the currently airing anime "NieR:Automata Ver1.1a". This music video is a 15-minute "puppet show" that is a spin-off of the "NieR" story, planned and produced by Yoko Taro, the director of the "NieR" series.

This is the second collaboration between amazarashi and Yokoo, following the 2017 release of "NieR:Automata" titled "WorthyofLife."

The script's motif is ``Otuber and the Elephant'' by Kenji Miyazawa, who is also closely related to amazarashi. This is the story of an elephant who stands up and gains freedom while being exploited by capitalists. Inspired by this fairy tale and the song "antinomy," Yokoo wrote a puppet theater script for the music video.

``Dad'' and ``Mother'', who are reminiscent of unscrupulous capitalists, are original puppet characters created by Yokoo. A huge display was set up in the background of the stage, creating a novel production that linked the digital UI typical of "NieR" with puppet operations. A new expression has been born in the ever-expanding world of "NieR" including games, stage plays, anime, novels, and manga.

The completed music video has a total length of 15 minutes. This is an unusual music video, with a puppet show lasting over 10 minutes being shown before the song begins.

I think "antinomy" is a song of hope. In "NieR:Automata", the beings who created both the android allies and the enemy machine lifeforms fight with ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ This is an ongoing story. It depicts a sense of loss in a world without parents. The theme of this puppet show is how to face that feeling of anxiety, and it connects to Akita-san's ray of hope. We aimed for content that would only be complete if the puppet show was followed by a piece of music.

When I read the script, I was happy because the story felt like it would appear in a game's quest. It's a puppet show featuring machine lifeforms, but it gradually takes on a disturbing atmosphere, leading to "antinomy."

The world of ``NieR:Automata'' is recreated through the combination of the string puppets' cute and slightly comical movements, but also subtle movements that give a sense of conflict and fear, stage settings, and CG. It was a story full of suggestions that a mechanical lifeform that vacillates between trust and oppression is human in every way, and that this is what NieR is all about.

There are things that we, who live in modern times, are burdened with. I really like the last scene. I can't go into too much detail, but people who like "NieR" should watch it. Even if you skip our song
